PRESS: Moscow intends to speed up 5G testing at two sites

MOSCOW, Jun 5 (PRIME) -- Russia’s State Radio Frequency Commission could expand the band allocated for 5G testing to 25.25–29.5 GHz from 25.25–27.5 GHz and test the network at the capital’s Luzhniki Stadium and business center Moscow-City, business daily Vedomosti reported on Wednesday.

The commission will discuss these measures at a meeting on Wednesday.

Moscow’s IT department will coordinate the pilot zones, which the department wants to launch as soon as possible, a spokesperson for the Digital Development Ministry told the daily.

The start of a pilot in Moscow was not documented but planned for 2019, while its ending was seen in 2020. The department wants to sum up results already in 2019.

The first samples of commercial equipment for 5G in the 25.25–29.5 GHz already exist, and the department wants to test various ways of using the technology in this band, a source familiar with the meeting’s agenda said.
